Dear Lauren,
Thank you for reaching out to us. We apologize for the slow reply.
Stargardts is a very active area of stem cell research. There are a number of clinical trials now underway. The federal database http://www.clinicaltrials.gov is the best way to get contact information about each trial. For instance, we did a search on (“stargardts” AND “stem cells”) and got these results:http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/results?term=%22stargardts%22+AND+%22stem+cells%22&Search=Search
Also, here’s a link to a great resource for understanding stem cell treatments in general: http://www.closerlookatstemcells.org

We are not aware of research related to Vitamin A, saffron, and stargardt’s.

Thank you for forwarding the link to your blog!

Best wishes,

Dear California Institute for Regenerative Medicine,
I have Stargardt’s . I am wondering if you are doing any stem cell research or clinical trials for Stargardt’s patients. At the moment, I am interested in the downside of Vitamin A for Stargardt’s patients. I am experimenting with saffron. Has there been any research done on this?
I look forward to hearing from you.
